PHASE FOUR: SOW WILD

SOW WILD is a seed packet and a year long citizen science project

1,000 packets planted 100 metres apart will create a 10 kilometre long network of wild native habitat to support all members of our pollinator community. Sow Wild is aimed at developing a deeper connection between people and nature.

PHASE THREE: THE LIFELINe PODCAST

Join us on Sunday August 23rd, Water Heritage Day, as we launch the first in a series of podcasts exploring the LIFELINE territory. We will journey with Valerie Vetter, Dublin City FM community radio presenter, and Kaethe Burt O'Dea, creative director at Bí Urban, along the route formerly taken by the Royal Canal from Broombridge to Broadstone to explore how the heritage of urban waterways can inform sustainable regeneration.

As we follow the flow of the Royal Canal south, we will pass through a lush watery landscape teaming with biodiversity rarely found in cities, a pollinator desert at Cross Guns Bridge and adjacent Mountjoy Prison, over Blacquire bridge (no longer a bridge) to visit the floating ecosystems restoring Dublin's secret jewel - Blessington Street Basin.

PHASE TWO: NATURAL TREASURE

In this NatureRx workshop, participants explored the folklore and medicinal properties of plants growing on their doorstep and immortalised them in precious metal, attributing new value to urban biodiversity.

The amulets created represent our commitment to enriching our knowledge of and preserving the biodiversity in our urban environment.

This is a workshop we would eventually like to run publicly, the first part being a walk & outdoor classroom on the Lifeline, establishing it as a living lab for the public to engage with.

phase one : Nature journaling

As research to support the NatureRx Workshop Series, Bí Urban collaborated with DIT Visual Communication Students to create a series of Nature Journals. The students were asked to document their personal interaction with & connection to nature in the urban environment and use this experience to develop triggers and prompts to engage the public in NatureRx Journaling.

Journaling is one method we can use to cultivate our powers of observation, cultivating a closer relationship with the nature, and help understand the value of green spaces that often go unnoticed in our North Central Dublin communities.

This exhibition is currently available for personal viewing on request at Bí URBAN.
